Frequently asked questions.

What is online therapy like?

Each week, we'll provide you with a unique link to our HIPAA-compliant video session. Teletherapy allows you to engage in the comfort and safety of your own space, which can be reassuring, especially when starting a process that may feel daunting. We are committed to helping families navigate challenges such as scheduling and transportation. However, telehealth may not be the best fit for every situation, particularly for children under 12 or families with more than three members. We collaborate closely with clients to develop personalized plans that suit their specific needs and circumstances.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens! We ask that clients honor and uphold their scheduled sessions. Should the need to reschedule or cancel arise, please provide the therapist with at least 24 hours’ notice. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session without providing a 24-hour notice, you will be billed the full amount of your session.

Do you offer longer sessions?

We do! More comprehensive therapy sessions lasting 100 minutes are made available to accommodate families and couples. The option for extended sessions allows for more in-depth exploration and discussion during the therapy process. These sessions can be especially beneficial for the first several sessions, often resulting in shorter overall treatment time.

Why is therapy so expensive and what does it cover?

Therapy is an investment in yourself and your relationships, fostering growth and healing. In terms of coverage, private pay therapy includes the therapist’s time and expertise during the sessions, as well as necessary materials or resources utilized during treatment. It may also include time outside of sessions for planning, documentation, notes, therapy training related to client support, practice insurance, and supervision fees. We are committed to ensuring your investment is worthwhile and supportive of your journey towards well-being.

How long does therapy usually last? How often do I have to come?

The length and frequency of therapy depend on several factors, such as the nature of the issues you're dealing with, your personal goals, and the type of therapy used. Therapy can range from three months to over a year. Clients with more situational concerns may experience progress within a few months, while those dealing with deeper or long-standing issues might benefit from a longer therapeutic journey.

Regarding how often you'll need to come, it also varies based on your needs. Some clients start with more frequent sessions, such as twice a week, especially when addressing urgent or intense issues. Others may find once a week to be sufficient for steady progress. As therapy progresses, session frequency might be reduced to every other week or once a month for ongoing support. On average, most people attend therapy weekly, but the schedule can be tailored to suit your unique situation and therapeutic goals.
